Accessibility Statement
This statement applies to the website Web Design Stuttgart — Websites & Software | Tobias Wachter, reachable at this address. It is a courtesy translation; the German version is authoritative for statutory purposes under German law.
1. Commitment to Accessibility
I, Tobias Wachter, make an effort to make my website accessible in line with the German Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities Act (BGG), the German Accessibility Reinforcement Act (BFSG), and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines WCAG 2.2, conformance level AA. Beyond the AA requirements, numerous criteria of the higher AAA level are also implemented.
2. Compliance Status
By my own assessment, the website is fully compliant with level AA requirements. In addition, the following AAA-level criteria are met:
- Enhanced contrast (1.4.6) — all text reaches a contrast ratio of at least 7:1, large text at least 4.5:1
- Line length (1.4.8) — body text is limited to a maximum of 80 characters per line
- Animation from interactions (2.3.3) — all animations can be turned off, both via the menu and via the system's "reduce motion" setting
- Link purpose (2.4.9) — the purpose of every link is clear from the link itself, without surrounding text
- Location (2.4.8) — every subpage carries a breadcrumb trail indicating the current location
- Abbreviations (3.1.4) — abbreviations are expanded on first use or carry an explanation
- Focus not obscured (2.4.12) — the currently focused element is never covered by the fixed header
3. Assistive Features Available on This Website
The accessibility menu can be opened via the icon in the top right of the navigation bar. It offers the following functions:
- Adjust font size — normal, larger or maximum
- High contrast — pure black/white/yellow display without gradients
- Improved readability — larger line spacing and word spacing
- Reduce animations — turns off moving effects
- Read aloud — reads the page using your browser's speech synthesis (Web Speech API)
Your chosen settings are stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and restored on every visit. No data is transmitted to external servers.
4. Keyboard Operation
The entire website can be operated using the keyboard:
- Tab — moves to the next element
- Shift+Tab — moves to the previous element
- Enter / Space — activates buttons and links
- Esc — closes the accessibility menu and any open project demos; focus then returns to the button used to open it
At the top of the page is a "Skip to main content" link that allows navigation to be skipped.
5. Content That May Not Be Fully Accessible
Despite every effort, the following content may not be fully accessible:
- Decorative animations and gradients in the hero area — these can be disabled via the accessibility menu
- Outlined typography in headings — in high-contrast mode it is displayed with significantly more contrast
- Reading level of legal texts (WCAG 3.1.5, level AAA) — the legal notice, privacy policy, terms & conditions and sample contract must reproduce statutory terms and section numbers verbatim. As a result they exceed the reading level required for level AAA. If you have questions about these texts, I'm happy to explain the content on request — contact details are in section 7.
The criteria for video and audio content (subtitles, audio description, sign language) do not apply to this website: it contains no video or audio files.
6. Preparation of This Statement
This statement was created on 11 May 2026 and last reviewed and updated on 3 August 2026. The accessibility assessment was carried out by self-assessment against the requirements of WCAG 2.2, level AA, supplemented by the level-AAA criteria named in section 2. The review included, among other things, an independent, repeatable contrast measurement of the rendered page, keyboard operation without a mouse, and enforcing the text spacing required by WCAG 1.4.12.
7. Feedback and Contact
Have you noticed any accessibility issues on this website? I'd be glad to hear from you:

8. Enforcement / Conciliation Procedure
If, even after contacting me, no satisfactory solution has been found, you may contact the German Federal Conciliation Body under § 16 BGG (Schlichtungsstelle nach § 16 BGG). Its role is to resolve conflicts between people with disabilities and federal public bodies. The conciliation procedure is free of charge. Note: this body handles complaints against German federal public bodies specifically; it is provided here for completeness as this is a German-law statutory disclosure.
